WHICH CAME FIRST: RICHERT BEIL OR THE EGG?
Jale Richert and Michele Beil have been making sharp, monochromatic, gender-fluid tailoring in Berlin since 2014, and the work has a clarity to it that is hard to fake. What sets them apart goes beyond aesthetics: Richert Beil built their own sizing system from scratch, one that actually maps to how bodies exist rather than how fashion decided they should. Sharp silhouettes, no compromises, and clothes that fit people instead of asking people to fit them. STUDIO2RETAIL is where you meet the result.
After the last show we asked them: What do food and fashion have in common? What is so facinaing about it?
For us, the connection is hospitality. Gastronomy creates space for people to gather, exchange and participate, while remaining a highly focused environment. We are interested in bringing that same balance to a fashion studio.
From runway to retail: for several seasons your brand was part of the BFW Show Schedule. Why STUDIO2RETAIL this time? And what are you excited about?
After many seasons on the runway, we felt it was time to build a more permanent context for our work. ‚Apotheke' is our first physical space and allows us to engage with people in a more personal way throughout the year.
