An explaination in pictures at Dennis Chuenes store.

DENNIS
CHUENE
IN CONVERSATION
Berlin has a particular kind of darkness to it. And Dennis Chuene has made it his material. The independent label, rooted in a basement atelier and retail space in Kreuzberg, works somewhere between structured tailoring, Japanese influence, and avant-garde silhouette. What makes it distinctive is the process: no sketches, no illustrations. Ideas live only in the mind until they're brought into reality, guided entirely by emotion.

M:Dennis, what connects your store to this street? What makes this street so special?
D: "What connects me and my store to this street is the belief that human communities depend on a diversity of talent, not a singular conception of ability. What makes this street special is the mix of people, cultures, creativity, and independent ideas existing together and shaping one another.
The fact that its a heritage building built in 1881. Most of the sop owners or collaborators are all in basement shops. it feels like a destination street. very accessible public transport. close to victoria part and bergmann kiez."

M:Tell us your wish for fashion retail in Berlin.
D: "To grow the community that it would go as far as the rest of kreuzberg taking part in the monthly event. othe businesses could find each other and collaborate in a communal way."

THE VILLAGE ALWAYS RAISED THE KIDS. - Dennis
