ART AND FASHION

Highlights for Fashion Fans during Berlin Art Week

Berlin Art Week brings together artists, galleries, institutions and creative communities from across the city. But art in Berlin does not exist within fixed boundaries. Fashion is an important part of the city’s creative landscape, with designers working across art, design, performance and other forms of creative expression.

ART AND FASHION

Several Studio2Retail brands were represented at FASHION POSITIONS, while others presented their own events and formats across Berlin. From wilting installations to wall hangings made from cocoa shells, the exhibition brought together fashion and artistic practices that explored questions of transience and responses to the crises of our time.

During Berlin Art Week, PLATTE transformed into a space for fashion, art and exchange. The programme opened with a large opening night and continued throughout the week, with the gallery remaining open to visitors and offering different ways to experience the work on display.

One night at PLATTE was dedicated to the collaboration with Sven Marquardt, bringing a distinct artistic perspective into the programme. The collaboration added another layer to the week’s dialogue between fashion, image-making and contemporary art.

Samuel Bemmer presented pieces from his current collection alongside works by other contemporary designers in a pop-up store. The format brought different approaches to contemporary fashion together in one space, creating a shared setting for discovering new designers and perspectives

AIANADI Agency presented THE DIVA as part of Berlin Art Week, adding another perspective to the intersection of fashion, art and creative expression. The event reflected the diverse formats through which fashion can be experienced beyond the traditional runway or retail space.

From exhibitions and pop-ups to collaborations, performances and fashion shows, Berlin Art Week offered different points of connection between fashion and art. For Studio2Retail, it was an opportunity to highlight the brands and creatives shaping these intersections — and to discover how fashion can become part of Berlin’s wider cultural landscape.
