Inspired by founder Miriam Kuna Schade’s first journey to Kenya earlier this year, the project reflects on heritage, reconnection and the creation of new possibilities of belonging. Set at Sommerbad Humboldthain, Homecoming reimagines the visual language of 1970s Miami and Florida leisure culture. Glittering inflatables, vibrant swimwear and performative interventions transform the public pool into a playful landscape of pleasure, confidence and self-expression. Historically shaped by exclusivity, these visual worlds are reclaimed through a contemporary lens that centers BIPOC communities. Female-founded in 2022, the brand focusses on these three core values: sustainability, diversity and inclusion. W1P Studios offers a combination of unique one-offs and made-to-order pieces. Characteristic to the brand is their mix of genderfluid tailored pieces, cozy knits and extraordinary prints that oftentimes can be adjusted to the individual body. Especially sustainability dominates the way the brand works. W1P Studios uses carefully selected materials that are mostly deadstock in combination with the upcycled materials of secondhand clothes. In case new materials need to be bought, W1P pays special attention to the fibres, the source of the material as well as how it was produced. Another focus of the brand is knitwear as it offers the opportunity to reduce the material waste to a minimum, which is also an overall goal of the brand. While working with this sensibility towards the product and the material, W1P Studios takes inspiration for their collections from topics that are currently moving society and wants to raise awareness for them.
